Join Industrial Street Studios and Mid-Columbia Economic Development District for the first in a series of three workshops geared towards building a thriving creative business.

This series is for you if:
- you are an artist, creative, or entrepreneur who currently runs your own business
- you are an artist, creative, or entrepreneur who is interested in starting your own business

We will be bringing you experts from the field that can support with business creation, marketing, and financials and connecting you with peers in your area who can support you on the journey.

For Session #1 we have Oregon Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts who will be bringing their Business Basics presentation as part of the Craft to Commerce series. The workshop is designed to discuss the beginning to middle phase of establishing a business in Oregon, including best practices for working with business partners, employees, creative materials, and the important events in the life-cycle of a business. We will be discussing the difference between an LLP and an LLC, an Employee and an Independent Contractor, and a Copyright and a Trademark.

Our presenter, Noah Maurer focuses on business, M&A, and intellectual property law in the Pacific Northwest. He’s dedicated to assisting businesses of all sizes navigate complex commercial transactions. With a background working alongside entrepreneurs, artists, and entertainers on both sides of the US-Canada border, Noah brings real world experience to protect and enhance the creative and innovative interests of his clients. Noah is on the board of directors for Oregon Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and serves on the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar Intellectual Property Section. He works as an associate attorney at Elevate Law Group.
